Sustainable, original furniture designs from around the world will be on display at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, heading to the Javits Center this May. Read on for an overview of what you’ll find there.
What is it?
ICFF is America’s leading furniture design platform, and this year’s stand-out contemporary designs will appeal to everyone from homeowners, interior designers and buyers in the hospitality space to fans of functional art and the occasional maximalist looking for a new chair.
In partnership with WantedDesign Manhattan—an Industry City–based platform that works to boost designers throughout the year with talks, programs and exhibitions—ICFF showcases 400-plus design brands from 25 countries. Last year the two organizations launched a Schools Showcase at the fair, which features the work and accomplishments of design students from around the world.
How can you take part?
You can check out design trends like the curvy, offbeat pieces designed to emulate organic shapes found in nature. After viewing the squiggly tables and bendy light fixtures, spend time mingling with creators, catching panel sessions and keynote presentations, and collecting business cards. Featured products include seating, outdoor furniture, kitchen and bath fixtures, wall coverings, textiles and carpets and flooring.
Among the events are the ICFF Editors Awards, the ICFF Interior Awards and informative ICFF + WantedDesign Manhattan Talks on a stage designed by Venezuelan designer and architect Rodolfo Agrella.
You can ask questions at the ICFF + WantedDesign Manhattan Talks, so look ahead at the topics over the three days, which include Eco-Solidarity, Color Trends and Ethical Design.
ICFF runs from May 21 to May 23 (10am to 6pm the first two days, 10am to 5pm on May 23). A full list of exhibitors is available for attendees to review prior to the festival, along with a ticket pricing list.
