Harry Belafonte 115th Street Library

Description

This stunning three-story structure, which opened in 1908, is not only a library but also a bustling community center that looks from the outside like an Italian palace. Aside from books and materials for adults, teens and children, the space is often used for neighborhood meetings, community productions and art shows. There is also an impressive first-floor Ethnic Heritage Collection, as well as a host of programs and classes, including arts and crafts for ages 5 to 12, "Game On" (Wii gaming tournaments for ages 12 to 18) and story time for toddlers.
