Mulberry Street Library
Description
This SoHo outpost of the famed New York Public Library was built in what used to be a chocolate factory. Today, the structure is eco-chic, with plenty of wood, metal and natural light on all of its three floors (two are below ground). Special sections include French, Italian, Chinese, Spanish and large-print collections. There is also wireless Internet access and a slew of events and classes, including story time for toddlers and Teen Lounge (where 12 to 18 year olds listen to music and do homework).
