St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral
Description
The City's first cathedral, with a cornerstone laid in 1809, is in the venerable position of celebrating more than 200 years as a neighborhood anchor. The City's first cathedral (it took on the "old" when St. Patrick's on 51st Street was built in 1879), it was also one of the first buildings to be granted landmark status by the New York City Landmarks Commission, in the '60s. Visitors in the area can experience the grandeur of the building during the hours of 8am to 6pm.
