Nach einem ausverkauften Off-Broadway-Lauf bei Playwrights Horizons im Jahr 2019 gewann Michael R. Jackson den Pulitzer-Preis 2020 in Drama für die Geschichte von Usher – einem queeren schwarzen Schriftsteller, der ein Musical über einen queeren schwarzen Schriftsteller schreibt. Und so geht der Kreis. Das viel gelobte Musical zeigt Jacquel Spivey als Usher und ein Ensemble, darunter Antwayn Hopper, L. Morgan Lee, John-Michael Lyles, James Jackson, Jr., John-Andrew Morrison und Jason Veasey.
