Sweat geht sozioökonomische Probleme mit Herz und Charme an. Als Entlassungen eine Fabrik in Reading, Pennsylvania, treffen, hat eine Gruppe von Freunden und Kollegen Schwierigkeiten, ihre Beziehungen aufrechtzuerhalten. Nach einem erfolgreichen Off-Broadway-Lauf im Public Theater wurde Sweat von Lynn Nottage geschrieben, die ein Guggenheim Fellowship, MacArthur Grant und den Pulitzer Prize for Drama (für ihr Spiel Ruined) gewonnen hat.
