Beschreibung
Arthur Mitchell – der erste Afroamerikaner, der mit dem New York City Ballet auftrat – und Karel Shook gründeten 1969 das Tanztheater von Harlem, um Harlem-Kindern Tanz und verwandte Disziplinen beizubringen. Kurz darauf gründete die Gruppe ihr eigenes Unternehmen. Neben regelmäßigen Aufführungen veranstaltet das Dance Theatre eine monatliche Open-House-Serie.
