Mary Boone machte sich in den 80er Jahren in ihrer Soho-Galerie mit Julian Schnabel, Jean-Michel Basquiat und Francesco Clemente bekannt. Später zog sie nach Midtown (siehe 57th Street) und fügte 2000 diesen weitläufigen Raum in Chelsea hinzu, in dem etablierte Künstler wie Ross Bleckner, Barbara Kruger und Damian Loeb zu sehen waren.
