Der ursprüngliche Strand Book Store direkt am Union Square ist seit 1927 geöffnet und wird noch immer von der Familie geführt, die ihn gegründet hat. Dieses Ablegerstück der Upper West Side ist kleiner als sein Gegenstück in der Innenstadt, verkauft aber immer noch jede Art von neuem und gebrauchtem Buch, von Romanen über Memoiren über Kindertitel bis hin zu historischen Themen.
