Descripción

Thomas W. Commeraw fue un alfarero afroamericano que fue identificado erróneamente por museos e historiadores como un hombre blanco. De hecho, el anteriormente esclavo Commeraw operaba una cerámica cerca de Corlears Hook (parte del Lower East Side de hoy en día). Esta exposición, la más grande de su trabajo hasta la fecha, presenta 40 piezas creadas por Commeraw y sus competidores entre 1790 y 1819 junto con documentos primarios que permitieron a los investigadores desglosar la historia de su vida y carrera.
