The High Line

The High Line—a former elevated railway that has been transformed into one of the City’s most popular parks—offers incredible views of Manhattan’s west side, places to sit and relax, and greenery surrounded by stunning architecture. The science-minded should hit it on Tuesday evenings (April–October) for stargazing; members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York are on hand as guides.

Real animal skulls, replicas of human ones and bracelets made from actual beetles for sale. But the store is more museum than it is tchotchke central, with science and natural history collectibles, and unique decor sure to spark conversations in your home.

It’s a museum offering tours of its massive collection of holography; a studio that runs classes for those interested in the art; a shop that sells gifts; and a production company that can guide you through any hologram project.

Gulliver’s Gate

Located in Times Square, Gulliver’s Gate takes our very large world and shrinks it down to miniature size. See tiny versions of NYC’s most famous landmarks, such as the Empire State Building and Grand Central Terminal, along with the great attractions of Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Parts of the landscape move, there’s running water and a 3-D scanner stands ready to make a mini model of you.
