Description

The lessons of 1984, George Orwell’s classic novel about a dystopian world gripped by totalitarian rule, suddenly seems particularly relevant against the current political backdrop. This adaption for the stage uses multimedia props—including a huge video screen featuring the ominous figure of Big Brother—to drive home the menacing threat of a government that demands submission to group think and the quelling of all dissent. Scott Rudin, best known for producing musicals and blockbusters for the big screen, and British producer Sonia Friedman bring this frightening timely cautionary tale to Broadway, created and directed by Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan.
