Art of Manga
Oct 3, 2026 - Jan 31, 2027
Description
Manga—Japanese comics and graphic novels—accounts for nearly half of all graphic novel sales in the US. The Brooklyn Museum presents the first major exhibition of this media in the Americas, with 600 drawings that trace manga’s incredible influence. Expect works from popular series like Inuyasha, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, One Piece and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure among others that explore various ideas such as coming of age, finding hidden strengths and seeing beauty in the everyday. Many even touch on current themes of environmentalism, LGBTQ+ rights and socioeconomic inequality.
