Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May 1, 2026 - May 31, 2026

Fifth Ave. & 42nd St., Manhattan, NY, 10018

Description

NYC celebrates Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month throughout May. The NYC Parks Department gives free history tours and hosts more outdoor events, and the New York Public Library offers suggested readings, panels and other free events. It’s also worth keeping an eye on cultural institutions like Asia Society and Museum and Japan Society to see what sorts of special events and exhibitions they have in store as the time approaches. Also, don’t miss the annual AAPI Cultural and Heritage Parade, which typically brings the month's celebration to a close at the end of May or in early June. It will take place along Sixth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. There is a Japan Parade on May 9 as well.
