Away from the Easel: Jackson Pollock’s Mural
This event has already occurred
Description
Art collector Peggy Guggenheim played an integral role in Jackson Pollock’s career success, so it seems only fitting that his famed large-scale Mural painting (which was commissioned by Guggenheim herself for her Manhattan townhouse in 1943) would be on display in her namesake museum. Mural harkens back to Pollock’s early years, before he discovered his drip and splatter technique of painting canvases on the floor. The piece has not been displayed in NYC in over 20 years, making this exhibition all the more exciting.
