Description
This series of exhibitions, events and walks, the culmination of Dr. Eric W. Sanderson’s 25 years of research, showcases the coastal landscape of what became known as New York City as it existed on September 12, 1609, on the eve of Henry Hudson's visit. This landscape is called Welikia, a borrowed word from the Munsee-Lenape language that means “my good home.” In addition to the installation at New York Botanical Garden, there will be pop-up exhibitions across the five boroughs.
