The Book of Esther in the Age of Rembrandt
This event has already occurred
Description
The biblical book of Esther, traditionally read during Purim, served as inspiration for both Jewish and Christian communities in Holland during Rembrandt’s lifetime, thanks to Amsterdam’s general religious tolerance. This manifested itself in creative works, seen in this exhibition’s painting, prints, drawings and decorative arts by Rembrandt van Rijn and his contemporaries.
