Description

June is Caribbean-American Heritage month, and what better place to celebrate than in Prospect Park, adjacent to Brooklyn’s Little Caribbean neighborhood? Local organizations CaribbeingJouvayfest Collective and Prospect Park Alliance have teamed up to create a monthlong series of workshops, live music and culinary events honoring Caribbean culture. Each of the participating artists lives in the Little Caribbean neighborhood, with roots in Haiti, Trinidad, Panama and Puerto Rico. The free events do not require registration and include a yoga and meditation workshop on June 6, barbecue demonstration by a local chef on June 13 and performance by accomplished Haitian musician Paul Beaubrun on June 20.

Read our interview with Shelley Worrell, founder of Caribbeing, on bringing the Little Caribbean neighborhood to life.
