Costume Art at The Met

Description
The Costume Institute’s spring 2026 exhibition combines garments from the institute with objects from The Met Museum’s other collections to showcase fashion as an art form. More specifically, it will highlight how “the human body connects art and fashion” in recognition of how much fashion informs nearly everything that appears in the museum. Expect very intentional pairings of garments with artworks that help illustrate this connection. This is the inaugural exhibition in The Met’s new 12,000-square-foot galleries next to the Great Hall.
