Description
Based loosely on Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure, the new musical Desperate Measures finds young cowboy Johnny Blood sentenced to hanging after killing a man in a bar fight. Johnny’s sister, a nun, approaches the corrupt governor to save her brother. The price she has to pay for Johnny’s freedom is to do the governor’s “bidding” for an evening. This funny, sexy, show features country-music–style songs by David Friedman, with book and lyrics by Tony nominee Peter Kellogg.
