Description

The title of this play translates in English to “no one writes to the colonel”—a very literal translation of what takes place in the life of a retired military officer whose pension checks haven’t shown up for 15 years due to bureaucratic tie-ups. He and his wife become obsessed with their arrival, and every Friday he looks for them in the mail to no avail. In this stage adaptation of Gabríel García Marquez’s novel, the couple struggles financially as they fall victim to corruption and political power in Colombia.
