BORN TO FLY: Elizabeth Streb vs. Gravity

Jul 10, 2026

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, , New York, NY, 10023

Description

Choreographer Elizabeth Streb proves that contemporary dance can be action oriented and explosive while still remaining as graceful and captivating as ballet. The documentary Born to Fly: Elizabeth Streb vs. Gravity is the story of the artist sometimes called “the Evel Knievel of dance.” Streb’s athletic dancers are part gymnast, part acrobat, and part extreme thrill seeker—walking on walls, diving through glass, and moving so fast they seem to fly. The film culminates as Streb and her dancers prepare and present gravity-defying performances as part of London’s 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
