Description

The New Negro, an anthology of poetry, essays and art edited by Alain Locke, marks its centennial in 2025. This exhibit examines Black LGBTQ+ life in the 1920s and 1930s, as Harlem thrived after World War I with the influx of people arriving in the Great Migration. During this time, queer mentorship within salons and friend circles helped sustain the Harlem Renaissance
