Description

Hans Memling's Triptych of Jan Crabbe dates to approximately 1470 in Bruges and survived intact until it was dismembered in the 18th century. The Morgan owns two panels, the inner wings, from the altarpiece and this exhibit reunites those with the central panel from the Musei Civici in Vicenza, Italy and the outerwings from the Groeningemuseum in Bruges.  The full altarpiece has never before been reconstructed for an American audience and this exhibit explores the full piece in context, with loans from The Met, the Frick Collection and private collections that also explore 15th century Flemish art. For more information, visit themorgan.org.
