Hilma af Klint: Paintings for the Future
This event has already occurred
Description
Working at the turn of the 20th century, this recently rediscovered female artist's work predates the official birth of Abstract Expressionism in this remarkable exhibit that has questioned some of the basic tenets of art history. Working in Stockholm, her large expressionistic canvasses were painted years before Kandinsky and Mondrian made a splash with their own outre work that made them the official founders of this modern art movement. Hilma af Klint's work was not exhibited widely during her lifetime, and this marks her first major solo exhibition in the United States.
