Description
It’s the end of an era for Jazz at Lincoln Center: after nearly 40 years as artistic director, Wynton Marsalis is stepping down in July 2027, when he will transition to the role of advisor (and occasional performer). The season, titled “Come Home: Wynton Marsalis’s Final Season,” includes Marsalis and the Masters, in which Marsalis performs interpretations of works by Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong and other big names along with the JALC Orchestra; the WeBop Family Jazz Party; Rock & Roll Hall of Fame musician Steve Miller; trombonist Wycliffe Gordon; Journey Through Jazz: The Great American Songbook; Big Band Holidays; and Celebrating John Coltrane at 100—to name just a few.
