Just Above Midtown: Changing Spaces
This event has already occurred
Description
Just Above Midtown (JAM) was a hub for conceptual art and performance. From 1974 to 1986 it provided a home to artists—particularly Black artists—and visitors covering a range of ages and races. When she started it, Linda Goode Bryant did so to “present African-American artists on the same platform with other established artists.” MoMA’s exhibit tells JAM’s story and includes artists such as David Hammons, Janet Henry, Senga Nengudi, Lorraine O’Grady, Howardena Pindell and Randy Williams.
