Description

In tandem with its centennial as a public institution, the Morgan celebrates Belle da Costa Greene, its first director and J. Pierpont Morgan’s personal librarian. The exhibition traces Greene’s life from her roots growing up in a Black community in Washington, DC, to her time overseeing the library, as she managed its extensive collection and became one of the foremost authorities on illuminated manuscripts.
