Modernity and Opulence: Women of the Wiener Werkstätte
Jul 17, 2026 - Nov 15, 2026
Description
Jewish women played an integral role in shaping modernist aesthetics in Vienna in the early 20th century. They worked as artists, designers, tastemakers and patrons in the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshops) art company and had an often underrecognized but pivotal role in the workshop’s activities. The Jewish Museum displays items representing fashion, ceramics, graphic design, decorative arts, painting and more from 1903 to 1932 to tell the tale of how influential these women were in shaping modernist design.
