Events /Monira Al Qadiri
Several people walk past a large, colorful sculpture of a head wearing a turquoise face mask, set on a city sidewalk surrounded by tall trees and greenery.
A person with short dark hair, wearing a purple top, a beaded necklace, and a green hoop earring, stands indoors with a blurred background of lights and signs, smiling gently at the camera.

Description

This installation in Doris C. Freedman Plaza at Central Park’s southeast corner is Monira Al Qadiri’s first public art exhibition in North America. It features a large-scale human bust with a scarab beetle inspired by the ancient Egyptian god of the rising sun, Khepri. The piece is meant to reflect on both the divisions and interconnections between humans and nature.
