Description

Giovanni Battista Moroni is known as a painter of portraits and religious subjects. This exhibit is the first in the US to explore his portraiture as well as his role within an Italian Renaissance society that also included Leonardo da Vinci, the Carracci and Caravaggio. Among the themes explored are the way his Tailor prefigured Rembrandt’s narrative portraits and his Pace Rivola Spini did the same for Van Dyck’s depiction of women.
