The New York African Film Festival—now in its 31st year—has shined a light on new and classic films from Africa and the African diaspora through screenings, panel discussions with filmmakers and critics, and more. Neither awarding prizes nor serving as a marketplace, the festival seeks to gain a wider audience for the best in African cinema and, more broadly, to encourage an appreciation of African art, film and culture.
