Description
In celebration of the Dutch settling New Amsterdam on Manhattan Island 400 years ago, The New York Historical presents this exhibition that seeks to transport visitors to that pivotal time period. Using paintings from Rembrandt, Frans Hals and Jan Steen (including many works never before shown in New York), plus a digital, interactive reimagining of the 1660 Castello Plan of New Amsterdam, the museum illustrates life in the 17th-century Dutch settlement that would eventually become New York.
