Pacha, Llaqta, Wasichay: Indigenous Space, Modern Architecture, New Art
This event has already occurred
Description
The words that comprise the exhibit's title are Quechua: the most common Indigenous language spoken in the Americas. Although more complex than their English-language counterparts, the words roughly represent universe/time/space, place/country, and the building or construction of a house. The seven emerging Latinx artists whose work is featured in this exhibit make use of these concepts to explore the concepts of time and space still in use by the Indigenous groups in Mexico and Latin America including the Quechua, Aymara, Maya, Aztec, and Taíno and how those concepts apply to modern and contemporary art and architecture in the Americas.
