Description

The Grolier Club marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen, celebrating the life and work of one of England’s most famed authors. At the time of her death, Austen was relatively unknown, becoming a household name posthumously. The exhibition traces her popularity at 50-year intervals starting in 1825, not long after her death. Included are 110 objects such as manuscripts, rare first editions, movie posters and theater playbills, all culled from private collections.
