Description

On view through August 2026 at the Center for Brooklyn History, this exhibition explores how Brooklynites have organized, advocated and shaped political change—from block-level activism to landmark legislation like the Americans with Disabilities Act. Featuring archival materials from flyers and sample voting machines to Congressman Major Owens’s briefcase, People Making Power invites visitors to connect with Brooklyn’s civic legacy and imagine the borough’s political future. The exhibition's interactive feature allows visitors to cast a vote on what the future might look like.
