Unwind after work at El Museo del Barrio for intimate Thursday evening gallery conversations exploring power, memory and cultural expression.
On February 19, Emmy Award–winning spoken word artist and Executive Director of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Caridad De La Luz “La Bruja,” offers personal reflections on selected artworks through poetry and performance.
On February 26, sociologist and NYU Gallatin instructor María A. Cabrera Arús leads the final conversation in the February series, guiding participants through selected works from Coco Fusco: Tomorrow, I Will Become an Island. Drawing on her research into fashion, material culture and post-1959 Cuban memorabilia, Cabrera Arús connects Cold War-era artifacts to contemporary Cuban diaspora.
