Description
Ragtime tells the story of three different families who are struggling to hold onto the American dream in the early 20th century: Black pianist Coalhouse Walker Jr. and his girlfriend, Sarah; Jewish immigrant Tateh and his daughter; and a wealthy white family led by a character known only as Mother. The musical revival, which weaves fictional narratives with historical figures and events, is based on the 1975 novel of the same name by E.L. Doctorow and includes music from Tony winners Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens—who won their awards for the show’s first Broadway run, which started back in 1998.
