Description
Saya Woolfalk: Empathic Universe, the artist’s first major museum exhibition, shows how cultures mix, clash and ultimately transform through shared understanding. Woolfalk is known as a trailblazer of “world building” in contemporary art, using a fictional race of women known as the “Empathics” in her art. Their imagery and folklore are drawn from the artist’s explorations of African, African American, Japanese, European and Brazilian cultural expressions.
