Description

The Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park is back this summer with two productions. Romeo & Juliet, staged for the first time in almost 20 years, already finished its run in late June. Now playing is The Winter's Tale (July 25–August 23), the Bard’s story of defiance and destiny. After King Leontes falsely accuses his wife, Hermione, of adultery, she is imprisoned and eventually dies. Their son also dies and their infant daughter, Perdita, is sent into exile. Sixteen years later, Perdita’s return sets in motion a series of conciliatory events. Tony winner Daniel Sullivan directs.
