Sophie Rivera: Double Exposures
Apr 23, 2026 - Aug 2, 2026
Description
The late Sophie Rivera was an iconic Nuyorican photographer who emerged in the 1970s and helped challenge how Latinos were portrayed in the media at that time. Rivera is known for being one of the only female photographers involved in En Foco, the Bronx-based photography collective that helped advance the mission of self-representation. El Museo del Barrio presents this first museum survey of Rivera’s work—both her photography and her contributions to Latino society.
