Description
This immersive look into the people and places that inspire Spike Lee touches on themes, such as Black history and culture, sports, music and politics, that feature prominently in his films. The exhibit, Brooklyn’s first dedicated to the borough's iconic filmmaker, includes items from Lee’s personal collection as well as historical photos and works by Black American artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Elizabeth Catlett and James Van Der Zee. Among those depicted are Black luminaries who made a lasting impact on Lee, like Nelson Mandela, Billie Holiday and Malcolm X.
