Description
Off its successful Off-Broadway run in fall 2023, Stereophonic hit the Broadway stage in spring 2024 and promptly received more Tony nominations than any play before it (taking home five, including Best Play). It’s a 1970s story of a West Coast rock band and its sound engineers making a studio album—arguing, taking drugs and navigating fraught relationships along the way. Does it sound like Fleetwood Mac? Perhaps. In any case, playwright David Adjmi and songwriter Will Butler (Arcade Fire) have constructed a dramatic tale that falls somewhere between play and musical; the original Off-Broadway cast remains intact.
