Tarot! Renaissance Symbols, Modern Visions
Jun 26, 2026 - Oct 4, 2026
Description
Presented in two parts and across two galleries, Tarot! examines the role of tarot cards in Renaissance Italy and the fortune-telling objects’ continuing influence. The first section, Renaissance Symbols, revolves around the origins of the earliest known tarot card decks from the 15th century. Modern Visions begins with the more well-known 1909 Rider-Waite-Smith card deck and how it informed the works of artists like André Breton, Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo and Betye Saar.
