Description

New York City’s oldest thoroughfare, The Bowery has changed identities several times over the past five centuries—first a Lenape footpath, then farmland, a home to racetracks and gardens and a hub for theater and culture. It’s also synonymous with celebrities like Peter Stuyvesant, PT Barnum and Keith Haring. The New Museum—located on The Bowery itself—traces the notorious history of the “Devil’s Mile” through artworks and artifacts.
