Description

This Broadway iteration of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize–winning 1982 novel features a star-studded ensemble cast and a score featuring a rich array of music from the jazz era. The often-heartbreaking, ultimately redemptive story of Celie is given life by English actress Cynthia Erivo, who earned near universal critical praise for her portrayal during the production's run in London. Oprah Winfrey, who famously starred in the 1985 film version, joins the producer team for this revival and Tony Award–winner John Doyle directs.
