The Hills of California

Playwright Jez Butterworth and director Sam Mendes, who collaborated on The Ferryman, are at it again in this Broadway transfer that features the production’s London leads. Set during a hot 1970s summer, the story centers around the Webb sisters, and their return home to Blackpool, England, to visit their dying mother. There they face ghosts from the past, as the story moves back and forth between the reunion and the 1950s, when the girls were in a singing group, overseen by their mother, with an ill-fated chance to make it big.
