Description
Celebrate over 200 years of dance at this Museum of the City of New York exhibition. The museum draws on its own collection as well as loans from organizations like the New York Public Library, Apollo Theater and Louis Armstrong House Museum & Archives to tell the story of social dance in NYC—from living rooms to clubs to parks to bars. Styles like salsa, hip-hop, the Charleston, merengue, lindy hop and vogue are all highlighted via a mix of film, fashion, art, music, photography and instruments. Expect globally inspired forms like bhangra and Native American dances as well.
