In what’s sure to be the New Yorkiest Off-Broadway production of the season, What We Did Before Our Moth Days sees noted writer-actor Wallace Shawn in collaboration with director André Gregory. If that duo rings a bell, it’s because the two have worked together before—that classic and very talky 1981 piece of cinema history, My Dinner with André. This new production will undoubtedly be similarly discursive, featuring a father, mother, son and the father’s mistress telling the stories of their lives. Among others, the play stars indie darlings Hope Davis (American Splendor) and Josh Hamilton (Eighth Grade).
