Description

This exhibition of more than 130 items from the collection of Mark Tomasko includes guidebooks, viewbooks, photobooks, maps and pamphlets that promoted the City to tourists and residents. Items on display include Samuel L. Mitchill’s Picture of New York, which in 1807 was the first guide to NYC; Fifth Avenue from Start to Finish, illustrating every building on the street in the early 1900s; and E. Idell Zeisloft’s The New Metropolis, pubbed the year after the five boroughs united into one city.
